RICHMOND HILL – February 16th to 20th, 2026, marks the fifth annual Non-Profit Sector Appreciation Week in Ontario, established by a Private Members Bill, Bill 9, Non-Profit Sector Appreciation Week Act, 2021, by Daisy Wai, MPP for Richmond Hill.

The Act was given Royal Assent on December 9, 2021, after receiving unanimous, all-party support. It proclaims the third week in February each year as a week of appreciation for the professionals working in Ontario’s non-profit sector.

“Non-Profit Sector Appreciation Week is an opportunity to recognize the heroic service of Ontario’s non-profit industry,” said Daisy Wai, MPP for Richmond Hill. “The non-profit sector employs thousands of hardworking professionals dedicated to our collective social benefit, contributing significantly to our province’s well-being and economic development. Though their work is invaluable, it is often unrecognized. This week is a chance to ensure their dedication, vision, and compassion are celebrated. The non-profit sector has helped build our province, and it is our turn now to build them up.”

The non-profit sector serves millions of Ontarians each year by promoting mental and physical health, social equity, education, the arts, sports, child development, and senior care. Recognizing the non-profit sector can help motivate workers, inspire youth to pursue careers in the industry, and encourage Ontarians to volunteer, donate, and support organizations in their local communities.

Non-Profit Sector Appreciation Week is an opportunity to support Ontario’s non-profit workers as they continue to add value for the communities they serve.
